The Hanuman Chalisa is Goswami Tulsidas's Awadhi hymn to Hanuman: two opening dohas, forty chaupais, and a closing doha. It is the most recited text in Hindu homes. Some read it every morning, some on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and many turn to it seven or eleven times over when they are in trouble.

The text below follows the Gita Press, Gorakhpur reading. Under each verse is a plain meaning, so the sense of the words travels with the recitation. The PDF carries the same text for printing or for sending to family.
