Om Jai Jagdish Hare is the most widely sung aarti in India. Pandit Shardha Ram Sharma of Phillaur in Punjab (1837–1881) wrote it around 1870. It praises Vishnu, the lord of the world, but it is sung at the close of worship of almost every deity.

Aarti is the last step of the morning and evening puja. The lamp or camphor flame is circled before the deity while this is sung, and the flame is then passed around to everyone present. The text follows, with a plain meaning under each stanza.
